Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we're asked most often — about repairs, your data, buying and support. Prefer to ask us directly? Get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.

Repairs & diagnostics

How long will my repair take?

Repair times vary depending on the fault, the type of device and whether replacement parts are required. Many repairs can be completed within a few working days, while more complex repairs may take longer. Once we've assessed your device, we'll provide an estimated completion time and keep you updated throughout the repair.

Do you charge to diagnose a fault?

Yes. Every device is professionally diagnosed first — it's the only reliable way to pinpoint the fault and recommend the most cost-effective solution rather than guessing. You'll always know what's involved before any repair goes ahead.

How much will my repair cost?

Every repair is different, so the cost depends on the fault and any replacement parts required. Once we've diagnosed the problem, we'll give you a clear, no-obligation quotation — and we won't start any work until you've approved it.

Do I need to pay before you start work?

In most cases you pay once the work is complete. Occasionally, such as when special-order parts are required, we may ask for a deposit first — we'll always explain any payment terms upfront, so there are no surprises.

Can you repair my computer the same day?

Where possible, yes. Some faults can be diagnosed and repaired on the same day, while others may require replacement parts or more extensive testing. If you need your device back urgently, let us know and we'll advise on the fastest available option.

Do you use genuine replacement parts?

Where available, we use genuine manufacturer parts or high-quality compatible replacements that meet our standards. If there is more than one suitable option, we'll explain the differences so you can make an informed choice.

Do you repair Apple Macs as well as Windows PCs?

Yes. We repair and service Windows desktops, laptops, Apple MacBooks, iMacs and Mac minis, along with many other computer-related devices. If you're unsure whether we can help with your device, just get in touch.

What happens if my device isn't worth repairing?

If we believe a repair isn't economical or practical, we'll explain why and discuss the alternatives with you. We can advise on replacement options, help transfer your data where possible and ensure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

Your data & security

Will I lose my data during the repair?

Our priority is always to preserve your data. Most repairs can be completed without affecting your files, but certain faults or operating system issues may require more extensive work. If we believe there's any risk to your data, we'll discuss it with you before proceeding.

Is my data safe while you work on my device?

Absolutely. We treat every customer's data with the utmost care and confidentiality. We only access your files when it's necessary to complete the requested work and never view or copy personal information unless specifically authorised. We always recommend keeping a backup of important data whenever possible.

Can you recover data from a failed or damaged drive?

In many cases, yes. Whether your drive has failed, become corrupted or files have been accidentally deleted, we'll assess the device and advise on the likelihood of recovery. Every case is different, but we'll always explain your options first.

I think I've been scammed — can you help?

Yes. If you've fallen victim to an online scam, suspicious email, fake pop-up or telephone scam, contact us as soon as possible. We can check your device for any remote-access tools left behind, help you secure and recover affected accounts, advise on protecting your money and personal information, and recommend the next steps to limit any further risk.

Can you remove viruses or malicious actors from my computer?

Yes. We can remove viruses, malware, spyware and unwanted programs, clean up an infected system and restore it to full working order. We'll investigate how the infection got in, secure the machine against future threats and advise on staying safe online.

Can you help if my Microsoft or Apple account is locked?

Yes. We can assist with Microsoft and Apple account recovery where possible, helping you regain access to your account and ensuring your devices are correctly linked afterwards.

Buying, refurbished & upgrades

Do you build custom or gaming PCs?

We design and build custom PCs for gaming, home and business use. Whether you're looking for maximum gaming performance, a professional workstation or a reliable everyday computer, we'll recommend components to suit your requirements and budget.

Can you supply new computers and transfer everything from my old one?

We can supply new desktops and laptops, transfer your documents, photos, emails and settings, install your software where possible and ensure your new computer is ready to use.

Do you sell refurbished computers?

We stock a range of professionally refurbished desktops and laptops that have been thoroughly tested, serviced and prepared for their next owner. They offer excellent value without compromising on reliability.

Do refurbished computers come with a warranty?

Yes. Every refurbished computer we sell is fully tested and supplied with a warranty, so you can buy with confidence.

Can you upgrade RAM or storage before I buy?

Absolutely. We can often customise a refurbished or new computer before you collect it by upgrading the memory, storage or other components to better suit your needs.

Warranty & what's covered

Are your repairs guaranteed?

Yes. All of our repair workmanship is covered by a six-month warranty, and any replacement parts are covered by their respective manufacturer's warranty, which may be longer or shorter depending on the component.

What isn't covered by the warranty?

Our warranty covers the repair work we have carried out. It does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, misuse, software issues caused after the repair, viruses, or faults unrelated to the original repair. If you're ever unsure whether something is covered, simply contact us and we'll be happy to advise.
